The Importance Of Ensuring Your Loft Is Boarded Correctly.
Don’t risk compromising your NHBC warranty by letting someone board your loft incorrectly!
The current regulations for loft insulation depth is 270mm. When you have your loft boarded it is vital that the insulation isn’t squashed or removed as this could void your NHBC warranty.
It could also lead to damp or mould problems in your loft as there isn’t sufficient airflow to the trusses. Most companies will use 4×2 timbers to raise the floor, this is not correct, this will give you around a 200mm void to fit 270mm of insulation in!
How We Ensure Your Loft is Boarded Correctly.
We use 7” deep pressure treated timbers to raise the floor above the level of the insulation.
Not only does this stop the insulation from being squashed, it also adds considerable strength to the floor by spreading any weight that is placed onto our loft floors across several joists, thus eliminating any chance of causing cracks in the ceiling below.
Another way of raising the floor is on plastic stilts, but unlike our 7” joists, these point load the weight (a bit like a stiletto heel does) and can lead to cracks in your ceilings below.
We are fully insured and all our work is guaranteed – and will not compromise your NHBC warranty.
